We are proud to be a Rights Respecting School. Our Bronze accreditation reflects our dedication to fostering a safe and stimulating learning environment, where every child is valued, their abilities are encouraged, and they are empowered to flourish. These principles are woven into everyday school life, ensuring students have the opportunity to lead joyful, healthy lives and grow into responsible, engaged citizens—both in their local community and the wider world.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) places children’s rights at the core of education in the UK. The UNCRC is the foundation of UNICEF’s mission and represents the most comprehensive global agreement on children’s rights. As the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history, it outlines the civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights that belong to every child, everywhere. The Convention’s 54 articles cover all facets of a child’s well-being, detailing how adults and governments must collaborate to ensure these rights are protected. Every child, regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities, or background, is entitled to these fundamental rights.
In our school, students not only learn about their rights but also live them out daily. The Award goes beyond student actions—it also highlights the role of adults in upholding these rights. Together, staff and pupils collaborate to promote and fulfill children’s rights, ensuring they are respected in all aspects of school life. The RRSA acknowledges our efforts in implementing the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) within our school and the broader community.
Our RRS ambassadors are positive role models to all children and adults in school and strive to uphold the rights we all believe in. They lead assemblies, class workshop sessions and lead our school council.
